General Requirements

To qualify for the KDF 2025/2026 recruitment, applicants must meet the following:

Basic Criteria:

  • Must be a Kenyan citizen by birth
  • Possess a valid Kenyan National ID
  • Must be physically and medically fit
  • Must have no criminal record
  • Be of good moral character

Age Limit:

  • General Recruits: 18–26 years
  • Tradesmen/women: 18–30 years (with relevant trade qualifications)
  • Cadets and Specialists: up to 30 years

Minimum Academic Requirements:

  • General Service: KCSE grade D (Plain) and above
  • Tradesmen/women: Valid certificate/diploma in relevant trade
  • Cadets: University degree with at least Second-Class Honors

Height and Weight Standards:

  • Men: Minimum 1.60m in height, 54.55 kg in weight
  • Women: Minimum 1.52m in height, 50.00 kg in weight

Other Notes:

  • Pregnant women are not eligible
  • Tattoos and body piercings are disqualifiers
  • All applicant must pass through a comprehensive medical and physical test and pronounced fit.
